CCB Mongstad buys WellConnection’s division for Subsea Services at Mongstad. As part of the takeover comes personnel, qualified welding procedures and a project portfolio. Portfolio today mainly consists of inspection, maintenance and repair of Marine Risers.

Expansion of service offering

CCB Mongstad is a leading forward-leaning supply base with both operator companies and rig contractors on the customer list. With new competent engineers, skilled workers and upgraded workshop facilities, the range of services is expanded to also include services for the drilling system suppliers. «Several of the system suppliers have their workshops abroad, so by offering qualified maintenance and repair services locally on large and heavy equipment in collaboration with them, transport, climate footprint, time and cost are reduced – in short, very sustainable,» says Jan-Erik Hope , CEO of CCB Mongstad.

The takeover takes place in close cooperation with CCB Subsea in line with the CCB group’s strategy of offering subsea and drilling services locally at all CCB and NorSea bases along the Norwegian coast. CCB Subsea has its head office in Ågotnes and is a well-established supplier within subsea and drilling design, engineering, maintenance, recertification and operations offshore.

«Ahead of us is a period of high activity on the Norwegian continental shelf. Local capacity and cooperation will be crucial to ensure efficient project implementation for customers. With the subsea team now joining CCB Mongstad, we are strengthening our total capacity and delivery capability within subsea and drilling,» says Cecilie Sælen, CEO of CCB Subsea.

Local collaboration and proactive approach to sustainability

The work at Mongstad will be carried out in close collaboration with local suppliers, such as at Ågotnes.

«With cutting-edge expertise in riser, subsea and drilling systems and with a proactive approach to sustainability within maintenance, repair, overhaul and reuse, we look forward to working with the customers at Mongstad. Our biggest focus is on security, collaboration, resource utilization and efficient operations to give our customers the greatest possible value,» says Hope.

Bjørn Angeltveit, CEO of WellConnection Group, adds: «When it was first decided that WellConnection should exit this business area, we are very satisfied with this solution. Our employees get a new and exciting everyday life at CCB Mongstad, in a group that has great ambitions within the Subsea segment. We wish all parties the best of luck!»

The takeover will take full effect from 1 April 2023.
