Fantastic milestone achieved offshore 23.03.2022 by Equinor and CCB Subsea AS onboard the Transocean Encourage on the Heidrun subsea field: world first ever mechanical installation of a Tubing Hanger on a subsea well was successfully performed!

CCB Subsea AS has together with Equinor, developed and delivered an umbilical-less Tubing Hanger Running Tool, THRUT. Enabling mechanical installation of Tubing Hangers reduces time and cost, reduces operational risk, reduces modification on rigs, and hence reduces CO2 footprint on subsea well completions.

Thanks to all project representatives from Equinor and offshore crew from TechnipFMC and Transocean Encourage!

And well done by our subsea engineers Jonas Mannsverk and Odd Marius Stubbe Glesnes, our workshop mechanics onshore, and designer Helge Løken and Engineering Manager Fredrik Normann Hansen with overall responsibility for the design and operational methodology. Great team effort!
